Classification of CNC lathes:

  1. Classification of CNC lathes

There are many classification methods for CNC lathes, but they are usually classified in the same way as ordinary lathes.

(1) According to the position of the lathe spindle

1) Vertical CNC lathes Vertical CNC lathes are referred to as CNC lathes. The main shaft of the lathe is perpendicular to the horizontal plane, and there is a circular worktable with a large diameter for clamping workpieces. This type of machine tool is mainly used to process large and complex parts with large radial dimensions and relatively small axial dimensions.

2) Horizontal CNC lathes Horizontal CNC lathes are divided into CNC horizontal rail horizontal lathes and CNC inclined rail horizontal lathes. The inclined guide rail structure can make the lathe have greater rigidity, and it is easy to remove the chips.

(2) According to the basic types of processed parts

1) Chuck type CNC lathe This type of lathe is not equipped with a tailstock, which is suitable for turning disc (including short shaft) parts. The clamping method is mostly electric or hydraulic control, and the chuck structure mostly has adjustable jaws or non-quenching (that is, soft jaws).

2) Top-type CNC lathes This type of CNC lathes are equipped with ordinary tailstocks or CNC tailstocks, which are suitable for turning long shaft parts and discs and sleeve parts with a small diameter.

(3) Classified by the number of tool holders

1) Single-tool holder CNC lathes Ordinary CNC lathes are generally equipped with various forms of single-tool holders, such as four-station horizontal automatic indexing tool holders or multi-station turret auto-indexing tool holders.

(2) Double-tool post CNC lathe. This type of lathe has a double-tool post configuration (i.e. moving guide rail distribution) which can be distributed in parallel or perpendicular to each other, as well as in the same track structure.
