Determination of Coordinate Axis of Small CNC Vertical Lathe

Aug 27, 2021

The direction of the coordinate axis of the small CNC vertical lathe depends on the type of the small CNC vertical lathe and the layout of each component. For the small CNC vertical lathe:

  • The Z axis coincides with the spindle axis, and the direction of the tool away from the workpiece is the positive direction;

  • The X axis is perpendicular to the Z axis and parallel to the clamping surface of the workpiece;

  • The positive direction of the Y-axis can be determined according to the previously determined positive directions of the X-axis and Z-axis, following the right-hand Cartesian rectangular coordinate system.

  • The rotating coordinate axes that rotate around the X, Y, and Z axes are represented by A, B, and C respectively. The positive direction is determined according to the right-hand screw rule. The four fingers bend naturally, and their directions are the +A, +B, and +C directions of the circular feed motion.
